Daniel Silvermint, MA, LMHCA, PhD (Philosophy)

Daniel found his home in Washington a decade ago, but grew up in Minnesota and never quite left that Midwestern vibe behind. That means working with him involves a lot of supportive energy and some mandatory dad jokes. He also believes therapy is a collaborative process. You’re the expert on your own experiences and the author of your story. He’s the person who helps you make connections, overcome obstacles, explore new paths, and build the life you want. The end result is a life better aligned with goals that are true to who you are and what you want.

Daniel is committed to therapy delivered through an evidence-based, trauma-informed, and liberation lens. He’s enthusiastically affirming of LGBTQIA+, disabled, neurodivergent, and kink/poly/CNM populations. Daniel also grew up in an immigrant family and has experience navigating the world as a first-generation American. His professional experience includes working at a nonprofit organization serving asylum seekers and survivors of torture. Daniel works with adults aged 18+, and he has advanced training and expertise working with OCD, anxiety, PTSD, and sexual challenges. He works with both individuals and couples.

Daniel is a graduate of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling MA program at Northwestern University. Before he became a therapist, Daniel was a jointly-appointed professor of both Philosophy and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, with a focus on anti-oppression theory. Daniel holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Arizona.
